Fun with the Rent Cost Tool
As a renter, I am enjoying playing around with this rent/income tool. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, your rent needs to be--at most--$351 a month to earn minimum wage, work 40 hours a week and pay what is "considered affordable" (30 percent of income on housing). With a $1000-a-month rent, a minimum wage earner would need to work 114 hours a week--or earn $19.23 per hour. |
