Tribes spend almost $100k for Assembly GOPers
For months the whispers around Sacramento were that those Indian tribes whose compacts were killed in the state Assembly at the end of session were unhappy with the Democratic leadership and intended to express that unhappiness come Election Day. Well, yesterday Team 2006, the coalition of tribes that is spending $1 million to help GOPer Tony Strickland in his race for state controller has spent $100,000 on mailers for two GOP Assembly incumbents. The committee reported spending $72,000 yesterday for Assemblyman Guy Houston and $24,000 for Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia, who was the author of some of the gaming-expansion compacts. |
