Making Nice
Though they have engaged in a much publicized feud, Fresno Mayor Alan Autry and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger seem to have kissed and made up. The two met years ago as actors and atheletes in Los Angeles, but the professional relationship got off to a rocky start after Schwarzenegger was elected governor. The feud centered around Schwarzenegger's plan to finance local government, which Autry believed would have choked local governments. Autry, a fellow Republican, also criticized Schwarzenegger for having too few Valley representatives in his transition team. But with the special election, they have made nice. Autry will be lobbying the League of Cities today on behalf of Schwarzenegger to secure an endorsement for Proposition 76, the spending restriction initiative. |
