Angry Cabbies
If there is one thing you want to avoid, it is an angry cab driver. Often those yellow-colored cars whiz through town, screeching to a stop--or running signs and lights altogether. I remember one time in New York riding in a cab with a driver who got so furious with always-jay-walking New Yorkers that he reached out the window and smacked one as we flew by. All of which is to say that I will be going nowhere near the Department of Parking and Traffic in San Francisco today as the city's cabbies protest "lack of enforcement of hotel white zones, which they say are occupied illegally by limousines and luxury sedans." It is a legitimate gripe, but something about a cabbie protest is inherently worrisome. |
