Pombo and Feinstein Together on Environment?
Just days after a tough profile in the LA Times, Rep. Richard Pombo , who is known for his opposition to the Endangered Species Act, is teaming with U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein on an environmental bill to authorize $50 million for perchlorate contamination cleanup in California. Just odd timing. |

I love to hate Pombo as much as the next treehugger, but this one isn't quite fair. Pombo's district includes San Martin, an area south of San Jose where perchlorate has been a problem for three years. He has taken an interest in the situation and has worked to get cleanup money from the federal government. It may be the only environmental issue he's on the right side of.
