Angelides and Westly, Voz y Voto
Today the two Democratic gubernatorial candidate will debate in the taping of Univision's public affairs program, Voz y Voto. Bill Bradley has some details: Late yesterday afternoon, Angelides and Westly agreed to turn their joint but separate appearance at a Sacramento taping of Univision’s Voz y Voto public affairs program into a debate. The format previously, at the request of the Angelides campaign, had the two candidates taping their segments on the program separately. The new move came after Westly expanded his TV advertising into two more major media markets and Angelides scheduled no TV advertising for this week, going dark across the state. While Univision broadcasters have long intended that their event focus on Latino issues, Angelides may have something else in mind. Very late last night, after months of attempting to ignore Westly, the longtime Democratic frontrunner’s campaign announced a noon speech today in Sacramento to “outline the clear choice between Angelides and his Democratic Primary opponent, Steve Westly.” The debate will begin at 2pm today at the Univision studios. |
