Passing over Padilla
More than a week ago, the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats endorsed Assemblywoman Cindy MontaƱez in her primary battle wtih L.A. City councilman Alex Padilla. But what wasn't reported was that the organization itself was founded but Alex Padilla back in 1994. On the organization's website its purpose reads: Founded in 1994, by Los Angeles City Council President Alex Padilla, Los Angeles Councilmember Tony Cardenas, and Stuart Waldman, Chief of Staff to Assemblymember Lloyd Levine, the San Fernando Valley Young Democrats serves as the premiere democratic organization for young professionals in the San Fernando Valley. It wasn't like Padilla didn't try for the endorsement, either. The president of the organization, Damian Carroll, gives "special thanks" to those candidates, including Padilla, that "took the time to come and address YD's". |
